Sean Tabaie, MD

Pediatric

Sean Tabaie, MD, MBA., FAAOS., FAOA, obtained his medical degree from the Chicago Medical School. He then trained in orthopaedic surgery and clinical research at Saint Louis University Hospital. He subsequently completed an advanced fellowship in pediatric orthopaedics at the Northern California Shriners Hospital for Children and UC Davis Medical Center, where he gained expertise in pediatric trauma, cerebral palsy treatment, child and young adult hip preservation, limb deformity treatment, club foot and scoliosis. He then showed his dedication to the field of pediatric orthopaedics by completing a second fellowship at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne, Australia, where he gained further experience in treatment of children with complex limb deformities and cerebral palsy.Dr. Tabaie's research focuses on promoting diversity, equity and inclusion and advancing innovation in pediatric orthopaedics. In the last three years, he has published over 60 peer-reviewed manuscripts, focusing on topics such as surgical outcomes in underserved populations, healthcare disparities in pediatric orthopaedics, and novel treatment approaches for children with cerebral palsy. These publications not only have contributed to the scientific literature but also serve as a platform to address the gaps in knowledge and advocate for equitable access to care for all patients.Additionally, Dr. Tabaie is focused on advancing the field of pediatric orthopaedic surgery through the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning. He believes that these emerging technologies have the potential to revolutionize diagnosis, treatment planning, and outcomes in pediatric orthopaedics. His current research projects focus on leveraging AI algorithms and predictive modeling to enhance surgical decision-making, optimize patient care, and improve long-term outcomes. Dr. Tabaie is also a Principal Investigator with the Cerebral Palsy Research Network, a collaboration aimed to improve treatments and outcomes for Cerebral Palsy patients.Dr. Tabaie is married and has three young children, a Berne doodle puppy and sphinx cat. In his free time he enjoys traveling with his family, outdoor sports including cycling, hiking, snowboarding and wakeboarding. He also loves high intensity interval training and wants to dip his toes into amateur fitness competitions.
