Founders: A trio of highly passionate osteopathic colleagues who created REAM ORTHO. They will oversee all ongoing activity in the consortium and make the final decisions regarding new members, all disciplinary actions, and any organization-wide changes.

Board of Directors: The board of directors are composed of a select few orthopedic surgery attendings and residents as well as medical students, who are passionate about supporting medical students and residents pursuing orthopedic surgery. These attendings may come from any subspecialty. This board directly oversees student leadership (Student Advisory Board), attending leadership (Attending Mentors), and resident/fellow mentors (Resident/Fellow Mentors). The board also seeks out opportunities for organizational funding, and offers feedback/mentorship for students interested. These positions require more direct involvement in the organization compared to the attending/resident/fellow mentors and student advisory board.

Attending Mentors: Attending research mentors do not directly oversee organizational efforts, but consist of attendings who may like to support students in a more peripheral role. This includes senior authorship positions on manuscripts and providing ideas for projects which can be undertaken by members. As senior authors, these attendings will likely be responsible for revising drafts of papers and providing feedback for team members as they collaborate on pre-defined projects.

Resident/Fellow Mentors: Resident/fellow mentors consist of PGY 1-5 orthopedic surgery residents and orthopedic surgery fellows. Members in this role will provide project ideas for the organization and provide guidance to the rest of the team. Residents/fellows will provide insightful feedback on projects for which students can learn from, and be available to act in a mentor role for students. Further, as residents/fellows are directly connected with attendings through their training, these individuals may seek to bring in passionate attendings into the organization and/or connect strong student candidates with opportunities outside of the organization as well.

Student Advisory Board: The student advisory board will consist of driven medical students who have an extensive background in multiple types of research studies including systematic reviews and meta-analysis, large databases studies, and institutional cohort studies. These students will be directly involved with organization-wide changes, ensuring that all projects are making progress, and allowing younger students graduated autonomy with projects. Further, these students will be the main communication between attendings and the rest of the organization, ensuring that “polished” manuscript drafts are completed before attending/resident review.
